Family Law Case Manager, Bristol
Merlene is a Family Law Case Manager based in the Bristol office of Co-op Legal Services.
Merlene joined the family law team at Co-op Legal Services in June 2021.
Prior to joining Co-op Legal Services, Merlene worked as a self-employed County Court Advocate and appeared in over 400 cases, before over 150 judges in England & Wales. Through this, Merlene gained significant advocacy experience and the skill to explain complicated matters of law and procedure clearly to clients.
Merlene also has considerable work experience in Family Law having volunteered with Support Through Court for 16 months in London and Bristol and having undertaken several voluntary family law work placements.
Merlene completed her Bar Professional Training Course at the BPP Law School in London. She will also complete the LLM component of this course, an independent legal research project based on Family Law by September 2021.
Merlene achieved a 2:1 LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of the West of England, Bristol.
Merlene is also the Vice President of the Middle Temple Young Barristers’ Association and an Elected Member of the Middle Temple Hall Committee.
When not working
In her spare time, Merlene enjoys amateur boxing, running and hiking.
Merlene previously competed in the England National Amateur Boxing Championships. She has also competed and won at a Bristol Amateur Boxing Match.
Merlene ran the London Marathon in 2019. Now, she very much prefers 5k parkruns.
