Tim Burt, TEP, is a Probate Solicitor at Co-op Legal Services based in Bristol.
Tim qualified as a Solicitor in 1990 after studying law at Southampton University and he joined Co-op Legal Services in 2011.
Tim spent the first 14 years of his career as a litigator at Pinsents (now Pinsent Masons) in Birmingham specialising in defendant Professional Negligence Litigation, including dealing with many claims involving Administration of Estates, Trusts and Tax issues.
He then switched to private client work and joined a law firm in Worcester where he was a Partner and Head of Probate undertaking a mixture of Contentious Probate, Estate and Trust Administration and Will writing.
After 21 years as a Solicitor in private practice, he continues to focus on Contentious Probate issues. He also deals with complex estate administration.
Although Tim thrives on a challenge, he is a strong supporter of Mediation and trying to find a pragmatic solution to contentious situations. Mediation is a tool used to resolve legal problems without the need to go to Court and is well suited to Contentious Probate cases.
Tim is a member of Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Being a member of STEP demonstrates adherence to the high standards set out in their code of conduct specifically relating to Estate Administration work.
He is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and is an Accredited Mediator.
When Not Working
Away from work, Tim enjoys sailing, playing racquetball and overseas travel.
