Leanne Coyle is a Probate Solicitor, working exclusively in our Manchester Probate Operations team as a Senior Case Manager.
Before joining Co-op Legal Services, Leanne gained previous experience assisting in all aspects of Wills, Probate and Life Planning. She previously specialised in Probate and Estate Administration, dealing with mostly high net worth Estates and those with assets abroad.
Because of her wide range of experience Leanne is able to successfully deal with Estates where Executors are not UK based. She has concluded an Estate previously where the personal representative lived in Australia and all correspondence was dealt with via email to ensure that neither Leanne nor her client had to coordinate their diaries for the time difference.
Leanne’s previous experience as a Family Solicitor allows her to consider all aspects of a case, and negotiate even the most difficult of family dynamics. She has a sensitive and compassionate approach and uses plain English to ensure clients understand the process and what she will be doing to assist throughout the matter.
Probate Case Studies
Leanne has experience in successfully warning off caveats and deals with Beneficiaries and Executors who are at cross purposes. She is able to facilitate a sensible conversation with families at a difficult time in their life.
With broad client base Leanne often represents beneficiaries who are wealthy in their own right. In one such case, Leanne was able to prepare a Deed of Appropriation to utilise Capital Gains Tax allowances. This enabled her to limit the tax liability on substantial gain when a wealthy individual was the sole Beneficiary of a substantial Estate.
When dealing with a high value Estate where there had been a number of substantial lifetime gifts in both the UK and Spain, with domicile considerations, Leanne was able to utilities tax allowances for gifts out of income to reduce the Inheritance Tax impact on the Estate.
Leanne acted for an international charity who were the sole residuary Beneficiary of an Estate. She had to consider issues such as analysing Swiss accounts, property sales in the Cayman Islands and obtaining a Medallion Guarantee for US share holdings.
Leanne studied for her undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds graduating in 2010 and continued her legal education at BPP Law School in the city until 2012.
Leanne qualified as a Solicitor in 2014 and has since worked both in high street practice and a more commercial setting for a Top 50 Law firm with a large insurance client base. In 2016-2017 she was involved with the initial set up of a firm now based in London.
Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Leanne is member of the Law Society for England and Wales and sits on the Board of Directors of Leeds Law Society where she is focused on Diversity & Inclusion.
When Not Working
Leanne was the Leeds Junior Lawyers Division Chair for 2015-2016. Prior to being elected Chair Leanne fulfilled the role of Charity and Education Officer in 2014-2015, and is most proud of being able to organise what is now a regular series of CPD seminars for Junior Lawyers at an affordable price.
When Leanne isn’t working or volunteering in a law capacity she is often organising and attending charity events for the British Heart Foundation, a charity very close to her own heart. Leanne was one of the founding members of the fundraising branch for Leeds and was the branch leader from November 2013 until February 2015 a position that earned her the title of Volunteer of the Year for West Yorkshire in June 2015.
Leanne also enjoys travelling and went on a tour of Italy with her Husband in 2015. In 2017 she visited 11 countries in just 8 months.
