Client Afraid to Travel after Road Accident Receives Treatment at Home

Client Situation

Mrs G was driving when another vehicle pulled out of a side road and collided with her car. She sustained pain, stiffness and discomfort to her neck and right shoulder following the road accident. She also suffered from chest pain and bruising to her chest as well as a fear of travel.

The fear of travel had a significant impact on Mrs G's day-to-day life. As well as being physically and mentally unable to drive, she had also become a nervous passenger as a result of the accident She was worried about how she would receive treatment for her injuries as she could not leave the house to attend NHS physiotherapy sessions or other treatments. As well as her inability to drive, Mrs G also no longer had a car following the accident.

At home she was unable to carry out everyday tasks such as cooking, washing shopping, housework, gardening or her own personal care. This meant that she relied on her daughter for extra assistance when she was ordinarily very independent. She also could not go on walks, as she used to do, and her sleep was significantly restricted as well.

How We Helped

Mrs G contacted our Personal Injury Solicitors, who took on her claim. The team arranged for her medical assessment to be carried out, which provided supporting evidence for her Personal Injury Claim. We also arranged for a physiotherapist to visit her at home so that she could still receive this treatment despite not being able to travel.

The third party insurers admitted liability on the behalf of their insured.

The Outcome

The claim was settled with Mrs G receiving £2,700 in compensation for her injuries. In addition, the cost of her broken glasses was also recovered (£69) and £100 was recovered for the care and assistance that Mrs G's daughter had provided.

Mrs G will now be able to get herself a vehicle and be able to get herself out and about again, as the total losses payment that she was offered by her insurance had not been enough for her to purchase another car.
