Mr R was managing his own divorce when he called our Divorce Solicitors for help. Mr R and his ex had exchanged financial information but they had not reached agreement, despite many attempts.
How We Helped?
We advised Mr R that the starting point for negotiations would be that we contact Mrs R with a proposal for settlement. Included with the proposal would be the reasoning behind it, which should help her to understand some of the rationale.
If Mrs R agreed with the proposal, we could prepare a Consent Order. The Consent Order would set out the terms of agreement in writing and once approved by both Mr and Mrs R, it could be forwarded to the Court. As long as it was approved by the Court, the parties would be bound by the terms of the agreement.
When Mrs R received our letter, she instructed her own Solicitors. Both parties Solicitor’s negotiated on behalf of their client and an agreement was reached.
We prepared a Consent Order which was approved by the parties and sent to the Court for approval.
The Consent Order was approved by the Court and as a result, Mr R has a binding agreement to protect his financial interests in the future.
