Legal Advice without the Jargon
03 January 2017
At Co-op Legal Services we are dedicated to providing expert legal advice without the jargon. This means we offer a professional service, but we speak in a way that everyone can understand.
We know that many Solicitors do not do this, instead using complicated legal terminology that is not part of everyday speech. And while it makes perfect sense to Solicitors, Lawyers and Barristers, those who have not studied the law cannot be expected to know what it all means.
This can put people off seeking legal advice as they find the experience hard work at best, and unnerving at worst.
We want to address this problem by talking in clear, simple terms. If legal jargon cannot be avoided, we will take the time to explain what it means. This will ensure that you know exactly what your legal position is, and how we are helping you.
These areas cover major events that happen in life, such as dealing with the death of a loved one, getting your affairs in order, going through a divorce, moving house or recovering from an accident that was not your fault.
These times are often stressful enough, and having to struggle with confusing and complicated legal language will not be helpful. That’s why we tell you how it is and why, using plain English.
Fixed Fee Agreed Upfront & No Hidden Costs
We offer fixed fees for many of our legal services and we promise there will be no hidden costs. We will agree our fee with you upfront before we start any work. Once we have provided you with a written quote for the agreed work to be done, that price will not change.
Solicitor fees for many of our legal services can be found on our website, whilst for other services such as Probate, we will need to know the details of your circumstances in order to provide you with a fixed fee quote.
Cutting out the legal jargon is part of our wider values of openness, honesty, social responsibility and caring for others. Whether you’re making an enquiry or you’d like us to take on your case, we want you to feel completely comfortable when talking to us.
